ABOUT

Revealing Roots: Origin Stories

I asked SUNY Cortland students, faculty, staff, and the wider Cortland community—anyone who identifies as an immigrant—to create an art piece or bring an artifact to share their origin story.

The exhibition is really a celebration of all the immigrants who have risked their lives, gambled on an unknown future, to make a better life for themselves and their families, all while enriching the United States in unimaginable ways.

The Revealing Roots exhibition was made possible by the generous support of the SUNY Cortland Inclusive Incubator Network of Grants (SCIING) Program, Dowd Gallery, Institutional Equity and Inclusion Office, and the Haines Fund.

Thank you to all the artists who participated in the RR arts exhibition. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible.  A special thank you to the Dowd Gallery director, Scott Oldfield, without whom the RR would not have been nearly as successful.
